It is our aim to rehome as many dogs as possible within the criteria within which we have to work. The Carlow – Kilkenny Dog Shelter is a modern facility which is a joint venture between Carlow County Council and Kilkenny County Council, from which the Carlow – Kilkenny Dog Warden Service operates.

It is situated just off the N10 at Garryduff, Paulstown, Co Kilkenny.

The Carlow – Kilkenny Dog Warden Service is funded by both Local Authorities.
It fulfils both Local Authorities statutory obligations under the Control of Dogs Act 1986.

The Dog Shelter is open to the public at the following times :

 

Monday & Thursday 10am - 4pm
Friday 10am - 4.30pm
Wednesday & Saturday 10am - 1pm
Tuesday & Sunday          Closed

 

If you have lost or found a dog , wish to rehome or reclaim a dog ,or wish to surrender a dog, you can telephone the Carlow – Kilkenny Dog Shelter on (059) 9726785 and leave a message.

For Dog Licensing inquiries or Payment of fines for offences under the Control of Dogs Act 1986 please contact either Kilkenny County Council at ( 056 ) 7794470 or Carlow County Council at ( 059 ) 9170300 .

Dog Licences can be purchased at any Post Office.

Please note that a General Dog Licence can only be purchased at the G.P.O. Dublin or Kilkenny County Council or Carlow County Council.

Dog Ownership Campaign

As part of Kilkenny County Councils Responsible Dog Ownership Campaign, authorised staff from the Dog Warden Service will be carrying out door to door calls between the 19th November, 2012 and the 17th December, 2012 checking dog licenses.

If they call at your door, ask first to see their official identification and have your current dog licence ready for inspection.

To facilitate this initiative the opening hours at the dog shelter will be revised as follows:

Monday 10.00am - 1.00pm
Tuesday Closed
Wednesday 10.00am - 1.00pm
Thursday 10.00am - 1.00pm
Friday 10.00am - 1.00pm
Saturday 10.00am - 1.00pm
Sunday Closed
